Nihal Ghosh

Life for Nihal Ghosh has always pointed in the direction of photography.  As a young child he remembers always bugging his father, Samit Ghosh to let him use the camera.  Nihal’s father is an avid amateur photographer.  “He had a lot of great equipment but always made it difficult for me to get my hands on it, given the fact I was pretty young.”

During Nihal’s high school years his passion for photography blossomed with various opportunities.  “School became more interesting when I managed to borrow a very low resolution digital camera for the year.  This was back in the day so the camera was massive and produced images that would be only good for thumbnail prints.  I could care less I was taking pictures everywhere.”

Many of the images Nihal took with that digital camera were shown to eminent architectural photographer Pallon Daruwala.  “I was lucky to meet Pallon and he was kind enough to take a look at my snaps one day.  It was strange, that night Pallon rushed back to my house with some of his favorite images printed and insisted that I train under him.  It was quite a humbling moment for me.”  The next two years consisted of Nihal not only training by Pallon but also assisting him in various shoots for brochures, pubs, offices, etc.
